RSS feeds available for field corrective actions concerning medical devices

created: 2007.06.22
updated: 2007.06.22

The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices now provides field corrective actions concerning medical devices via RSS feed in English and German language. The service is free of charge. Field Corrective Actions include the removal of medical devices from the market or any other corrective action on medical devices in use. In general, field corrective actions were implemented by the manufacturer by sending an advisory notice to inform about risks and to advise on what action should be taken to protect the health or the safety of patients, users or other persons. Advisory notices are issued by the manufacturer, the authorized representative or the importer of medical devices.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format used to exchange up-to-date news in a quick and straightforward way. To receive the information you need a RSS reader. Feed readers are already integrated in the current version of web browsers (such as MS Internet Explorer 7.0) or they are available as separate programs, free of charge, on the Internet.
