Mission Statement
Protection of human health is our highest goal. We therefore strive together towards guaranteeing the best possible provision of medicinal products and medical devices to the general public as well as towards preventing the abuse of narcotic drugs.
Our attention is focussed on the quality, efficacy, and safety of medicinal products as well as on the implementation of measures to monitor the legal trade in narcotic drugs and their precursors. Continuous effort and workflow streamlining are necessary if the high standards of quality in our work are to be maintained. This goal is supported by experimental research in fields related to BfArM's areas of responsibility. We will enter into a constructive dialogue with all concerned and will increase the transparency of our actions by means of an objective and unbiased information policy.
We fulfil our responsibility for protecting human health without neglecting the importance of medicinal products and medical devices as economic goods. Industry is entitled to a modern and internationally competitive partner with regard to the licensing, registration, and risk monitoring of their products. Only with this approach can we position and successfully assert ourselves as a progressive and competitive institution within and beyond Europe. We confidently seek cooperative networking and constructive competition with other European licensing authorities.
