Research Council

he Research Council is the most important research-related BfArM body. It is involved in the continuing development of a research concept and its transfer into practice. The Council evaluates the applications for research projects and devises the basic procedures of research organisation. The final decision on the recommendations given by the Council is reserved to the Head of institute.
The Council was appointed by the Federal Ministry of Health in late 2003 and formally constituted in 2004.

The Research Representative (at present PD Dr. Werner Knöss) prepares the Council meetings. He is responsible for the implementation of the Council recommendations once accepted by the Head of institute. In co-operation with the scientific departments and the administrative unit of the institute, he co-ordinates the application procedures as well as the execution and supervision of external research awards.

The Research Council is part of the BfArM management.
