Information about SNOMED CT

SNOMED International provides extensive information and documentation material to help you get started or to familiarise yourself with specific topics.

General Information

SNOMED International provides important information on its central websites. There you will find information on news, events, the SNOMED CT network and for stakeholders.

Information on training, the eLearning platform and technical aspects of SNOMED CT can be found on SNOMED International's Confluence pages.

In the SNOMED Starter Guide (German translation by ELGA, Austria) you will find essential information on the structure and basics of SNOMED CT, on the logical data model and conceptual model as well as on other topics such as implementation, translations, mappings and release cycles. The Starter Guide can be found here.

The SNOMED-CT-Browser

SNOMED CT is a complex ontology, the browser of which can be used to search for concepts and refsets. It is also possible to display the hierarchical structure ("Taxonomy").

A special form of the SNOMED-CT-Browser is the Daily Build. Here you will find a daily updated view including the incorporated "Change Proposals".

The SNOMED-CT-Document Library

SNOMED International provides a Document Library. Here you will find basic documents on various topics that summarise the most important information about SNOMED CT.
For example:

If you are a software implementer and want to use SNOMED CT in your systems, you may find the following sources useful, e.g. for setting up an SQL database (SQL = Structured Query Language) to integrate the files provided in the MLDS into software systems, for SNOMED International's terminology service or for the SNOWSTORM terminology server (open source).
