Philips Healthcare has issued a Field Safety Notice concerning the Switched Reusable Internal Defibrillation Paddles M4741A, M4742A, M4743A and M4744A used as accessories for the external defibrillators HeartStart XL and HeartStart MRx. The shock switch on the handle in paddles manufactured from September 1, 2008 to December 30, 2008 may fail to actuate, so that delivery of defibrillation energy will be delayed or prevented. The affected paddles are replaced.
